…where Time is merciless and Light feeds darkness.

A stranger’s attic | a poem

There is a room, so dark and lonely,
One I’ve never been or even seen.
The way up to it, safely concealed,
Guarded by the phantom in my dreams.

There in the room, so dark, so lonely,
Sit all my dreams, my heart, my family;
Gathering dust, feeding the misery.
Yet it’s no more where I long to be.

Many moons have come and gone away,
My tears have turned my pillows grey.
I looked to the stars but couldn’t pray;
Memories from the past stuck on replay.

I recall the ground beneath my toes, then;
So solid, so safe, yet it still caved in.
It was no surprise — Time has proved to me
That I can only trust a tragedy.

I wanted back our perfect hours,
Put all our stuff inside new drawers
But the sky is full of missing stars,
And I am child covered in scars
Everything else can be washed by tears.

I will happily leave it all behind,
You have surely heard me sing that line
I’m really good at leaving things behind.
Time has bled this fire dry, now we’ll just let it die.

Thank you so much for your time! I sincerely appreciate every reader/subscribers ♥
