…where Time is merciless and Light feeds darkness.

Looking back & forward | 2022

On my previous blog, I used to write these types of posts monthly to help me look back on the journey so far and focus on what is coming next. There are loads of things that I used to do, but most of them now feel like a distant memory; a forgotten light.

Where I find myself today feels exactly like where I was a year ago: I am not interested in looking back, but I still have some demons tugging on my legs, begging to be taken care of. I had moved on from this chapter a long time ago but unable to turn the page, I had to simmer into this part of the story until I became a turpentine phoenix.

I would love for this new year to be filled with new beginnings and shiny brand-new things, but I know better. For me, it is going to be a year of revival and reconnection from within and outward. Just like most of the presents I gave this year were either second-hand or upcycled, I am going to give myself a fresh coat of paint and a second life.

I lived the past two years as a ghost, longing to feel alive again and cursing at the sound of children’s laughter. In fact, the more I reflect onto my life, the more I realise that the greater part of it has been spent in survival mode and with a familiar darkness inside.

In the new year, I will be doing a lot of introspection, soul-searching and nourishing. I will work hard on planting my roots deeper within with myself and connecting with the other souls that are dear to me.

I am going to dive back into heavy journaling and dig within my own skin with curiosity. But I also want to be more active on my blog again, as sharing my story and creations is another important piece to my happiness.

All in all, there is a lot of work to be done and redone. It is bittersweet to have to retrace my steps and having to put in more efforts to get back to a level I was already at, once. I am thankful to have this option, however; to be here and have the opportunity to try again, as the alternatives are pretty grim.

My main goal for 2023 is to revive my Fire and my Empire. They have been asleep long enough, and I finally feel brave enough to heed their calls. This year will be filled with music, at, love and Light–whether Time likes it or not.

To all my readers, I wish you a happy new year. May it bring all the Light you need into your life and all the courage & opportunities required to make your dreams come true ♥

I will leave you now with some pictures of the highlight of my year (because there was always Light through this thick darkness). And, if you missed any or want to revisit them, the very few posts of 2022 on The Dawn Chorus:
