I could not have imagined the extent to which dreams decay.
The dreams that left, the present that ran away with the future; all is past.
A silent death, a million trees falling in the forest, a world deprived of oxygen–
Not a sound. Not a wave. Nobody moved but me.
My favourite snack now gives birth to some form of alien life.
My windows, all wearing a thick coat of slimy darkness.
I dare not touch it, I cannot fathom how it would consume
Every last ounce of liquid joy that keeps this carpet moist.
The silent rot slithers in,
Finds a home in an attic,
A home in half-eaten cardboard boxes,
A home in my eyes closed; a home inside a void.
Green isn’t for hope, it’s for the mould.
Hope is creeping up my walls,
Love is knocking at my door
And I find a piece of Light inside my couch: shrivelled and hardened yet still fit for consumption.
Living is but a long ending, yet I can see through the careful cracks
The rot paints on my path — I can’t keep track, the lines overlap,
Carefully guiding me towards the Unknown that I own, the abundant emptiness.
Embrace the darkness now. It will walk you to and through the Light. Don’t be afraid of it. Nobody knows the brightest stars like the midnight sky.
The darkness isn’t void, it holds everything together.
Hi there! If you are reading this, chances are you are wondering what this all means, or perhaps you are already a subscriber but still unsure what you’ve subscribed to (hint: it’s just word vomit). I’m writing this part as a reminder that neither do I. Maybe it makes no sense, maybe it’s too many words or too many paintings I try to force upon your mind.
I’ve heard it all. I think meaning is overrated anyway. I believe that it’s more about experiencing things than making sense of them — most of the time anyway? Things don’t have to make sense or have a reason. A story doesn’t have to run too deep, nor do you need to understand every fibre of a saturated canvas to appreciate it.
What matters is that you read this, and it might have triggered some thoughts or feelings, and now you are moving on to some new experience. Feel free to share your thoughts with me in the comments, or don’t. Either way, I appreciate the eyes and the soul behind those eyes that sacrifices some precious time to read my words and maybe feel them or even appreciate them.
Thank you for your time. And if you have more to spare to share your thoughts with me, thanks a million. I appreciate every interaction I have on here or elsewhere, and it means a lot that you spend more of your time to share your thoughts or feelings with me. Feel free to browse The Dawn Chorus blog, it has a lot of.. uhm… words I suppose ♥
